A Lakeside Porch

I switched out the table and replaced it with this old one to lighten up the place.
A recent love is old baskets that have some wear and tear.  They seem to tell a story of someone working hard carrying fruits and vegetables to a market.  This French basket was found at an estate sale.
My old honey pot is perfect for these fading hydrangeas.
I lined the interior of the chandelier with sheet moss and inserted a plastic bag to catch water for the fern.
I hung the chandelier from a piece of copper wire.  Purchased at any building supplies store, it can be used to hang outdoor plants, too.  It weathers nicely and you can bend and twist it any way you like.
My friend gave me stacks of designer fabric swatches.  I haven't figured out what to do with them, but did use one of the swatches as a cover for this chair.  It already has grommets on each side, so I tied it to the chair with some ribbon!
This is a very dark space with the cedar beams and bead board on the ceiling.  We chose the rust colored fabric, so the cushions could stay outside all the time and not show so much dirt.
We use this space a lot, so I added as many seats as possible in this long narrow space.
The grain sack rug is easy to roll up and tuck behind the couch on rainy days.
I purchased the English sewing bamboo table for a bargain.  It was full of old sewing supplies and wooden spools.  I found another one just like it in Charleston for triple the price!
Extra seating for the children...
I purchased the floral linen pillows years ago.  I almost got rid of them a few years back, but decided to hold on to them.  They work well out here!
An old French milk bottle holds some greenery from the yard.
Many of you asked about this snowshoe chair that I had in the tree house.  I moved it to the porch for additional seating (and so it wouldn't get destroyed!)  It belonged to Rob's grandfather, who was the Chief of the Game Division of the Conservation Department in Michigan.  Because it folds so nicely, he probably used it on his camping excursions!  It was made like the old snowshoes with rawhide tightly woven by hand.  Snow Source in Vermont carries similar ones if you are interested!

Oh my friend, I just exhaled a little bit when I opened this post...as in an "ahhhhh" moment! Everything about your lakeside porch says come and relax a bit and enjoy the view. I think using the fabric samples on your chairs was a stroke of genius and I love your "chandy" up above. I would love nothing more than to come and hang out there with you and have a nice long chat!
Blessings to you,
Vanessa

Always love looking at your porch! Regarding the fabric samples, did you see the fabric pumpkins that were all the rage last fall? Might be cute to make & go in your booth. Just a thought. Have a good week!
