This chair was the inspiration for my daughter's room. I loved the lines of the chair, but the mocha color was too dark for the look I wanted to achieve. This store was going out of business, so it was a really great deal!
I found the table cloth on the back of the chair at a flea market for $7. The needlework is beautiful and the cloth is flawless. I love this kind of deal! The bolster is from Pottery Barn Outlet.
The quilt is from TJ Maxx and is perfect for a little girl. It was inexpensive and is easy to wash.
The lamp was on clearance, because it was missing the top finial; an easy thing to replace! The bedside table was painted cream and gray and helps to tie some of the furniture pieces together.
A vintage, wire hat stand holds my daughter's little bonnet and is a prop for her bunny.
The little bunny is made by a company in Denmark.
We painted the dresser, a flea market find, the same color as the walls; a pale gray color.
I love vintage children's shoes, as well as, antique children's furniture. This chair is from an estate sale. It may be a bit more French, but the color was perfect.
The clogs are from Holland and add a nice Swedish touch.
This little book is by a Swedish author.
Some little gray friends add to the color scheme of the room. The straight line of the baby doll crib mimics the chair's lines. It is from Pottery Barn Outlet.
Here is the chair after it was reupholstered! I found two shower curtains on clearance by Pine Cone Hill; $20 and it was plenty to recover the chair (this brand, by-the-yard is very expensive!) The blue and cream check is the perfect Swedish touch!
These Dutch prints were also a flea market find. I bought them for $16 each and changed the mats to a pale gray for $8 each. These were the original frames and one of the prints says, "A Dutch Ferry."
The 'Swedish Style' book was a great guide in helping me to achieve a soft look.
Another pair of clogs found at a flea market.
This is a friend from Target. I love the soft pink velvet color. It adds a soft hint of color in an otherwise, monochromatic scheme.
There is a good bit of light that pours into this room! The soft colors keep things simple.
The bed is from Ballard Designs. The white bed skirt is Shabby Chic from Target. The mirror is from the same store as the chair and was on sale, because of the store closing.
Here is my little pixie with her dolls in her big girl room! The walls are painted in Soft Chamois by Benjamin Moore. It is a white paint color with a hint of gray. The doll bassinet was $20 at an Antique Mall.
Swedish design is one of my favorites, because it is soft and soothing for a bedroom. The lines are simple and clean. While not everything is considered 'Swedish,' the overall feel was achieved. This will be a room that my daughter will be able to enjoy for a very long time!
This room had to be stripped down to the studs. We noticed some water damage, so brought in the mold experts. The mold levels, while not the extremely bad ones, were enough for me to clear the room! My daughter was two (now 4) and it was time to break down the crib, anyway! We tore out everything...carpet, walls, and fixtures. Since I am new to blogging this year, I don't have a 'before' picture! Imagine a slab of concrete and studs looking to the great outdoors!

Anonymous, I can't seem to get your e-mail address to go through! Hopefully, you will check back here! The little dress my daughter is wearing is by a company called 'Valeria.' I purchased it at TJMaxx years ago, when my oldest daughter was 4...so it has been a while! You might could search the web for their line and see if anyone carries something similar! good luck!
Just another one of your rooms that I am absolutley in love with!! Martina
Charming, elegant, and beautiful! I love it! What a beautiful daughter you have too!!
My parents are from Sweden but I was looking at another post that was mentioned on Craft Gossip when I found this post. FYI King Carl Gustaf (former King in former centuries..I think 18th) brought back French Design to Sweden so the look is both Swedish and French. The old part of Stockholm has very french architecture. My grandparents had a wonderful French Elevator (the kind that has iron work instead of walls around it) in their building. My sister is a huge fan of this type of design and has it shown through out her house. I love shabby chic but my style is very eclectic. I love Elsa Beskov illustrations too. :)
