Palm Sunday

On Palm Sunday, we celebrate the Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday. The Bible tells us that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him with waving palm branches, and covered his path with the branches. While our little leaves aren't palm branches, they were used by the children to mimic the waving of branches, as we talked about Easter and the meaning of Palm Sunday.

(This was Easter 2010.  I realized last year that I didn't really understand the events or even the words that were linked with the resurrection of Jesus.  As I have mentioned so many times before, I can't teach my children something that I don't understand myself!  So, I set out to understand the events preceding His death.  Today, I count my blessings for a Christ who loves me so much and offers much grace, despite my long list of sins!)

Blessings to you, this Palm Sunday!

We observed Palm Sunday at Mass with palm leaves this weekend as is our tradition. I think it is great that you were able to share this with your children. I think as followers, of whatever religion, there is always more learning.
