The December issue of Country Living magazine inspired me to make some embroidery hoop ornaments.
I made several of the ornaments with a Swedish embroidery cloth that I purchased for $8. I wish I could say that I painstakingly embroidered each hoop! It was a very small cloth, so I didn't feel so guilty cutting it into pieces.
Their creativity over at Country Living prompted some of my own! I have some vintage pins of my moms and Grandmothers, and made ornaments using them.
I wore this one to a Christmas party over the weekend, but think I like seeing it the entire month of
December on my tree! I love the little things that remind us of our loved ones long gone.

I purchased the red and white gingham fabric from IKEA and made pillow cases for my daughter's room (here) last Christmas.
The red and white gives some continuity to my tree. Last year, the Christmas tree (here) looked a little schizophrenic (some might call eclectic!)

I love this idea! Apparently, I haven't had time to look at my issue of Country Living, or I would have seen it too. LOL. I love your idea more. And I agree, being able to see little things that remind us of our loved ones, is indeed special! I may use this idea as well....IF I can find the time. Between our upcoming trip and getting ready for baby, I haven't even had time to decorate our pre-lit tree. At least it's up, right? ;)
I love the idea of the pin on the fabric in the hoops...I think that would be a great way to give a Christmas pin as a gift.

What a great idea! I have a beautiful jeweled Christmas brooch that my son gave my about 15 years ago when he was 8 and this will be a great way for me to see it all Christmas!
The little hoops are such a great, novel idea and look all gorgeousy-vintage!! My question is this: What do you do with all of last year's ornaments? My mother-in-law started a tradition of buying us decorations every year, and now my Mum does it, so I've ended up with lots of decorations (some I like, some I don't!) and there's never a real theme to our tree because of the mish-mash of decs. What do you do? x

Nikki W, Thanks for stopping by TPL! I, too have a lot of ornaments. I have many from my mom and have collected some for my children. My sister's house burned down this year and she lost everything. I went through all my boxes and gave her a bunch. I am in such a mode of wanting to downsize and minimize! Plus, it would cost her a fortune to start a new ornament collection. If you have children, put a special box with their name on it and store the ornaments for them. If not, maybe find a young couple just starting out or someone in need who might can use some ornaments! Good luck! Christie
