Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands. ~1Thessalonians 4:11
This verse encompasses many things. It is a lesson we want our children to know in their hearts. While we tell them frequently to 'mind their own business,' it is the 'work with your hands' that we are focused on, right now.
Chores for my children include unloading the dishes, vacuuming, making their beds, and cleaning up after themselves. Teaching the children to contribute to the family will bless them in the long run. I am not as concerned with things being done 'perfect,' as much as I am that they contribute. We give them an allowance for doing chores, so that we can teach them about money; to save; to tithe; and to spend.
"How may I help?" is a great question to teach children. It lets them focus on others and teaches them to serve. What a blessing it is when someone comes and says those four little words! We have not mastered any of this, but it is a work in progress!
Now, if we could just master the 'quiet life!'

Have a blessed Sunday!
My daughter wears a vintage apron that we gave to a friend for her birthday.
