Hello to my friends in blog land!
I have been running in circles lately and my blog has taken a back seat...a wedding, T'giving, Christmas breathing down our necks, my new shop (which is WAY more work than I anticipated! just FYI for those of you contemplating...), oh yeah, did I mention a husband and three kids...a dog, too! Okay, so that is everyone's life...I am just not the best multitasker!! I am sad, because I absolutely love posting and seeing all the great inspiration out there! I tried to upload a new post with pictures and here is the message that I received:
"Whoops! You're out of space. You are using 100% of your 1 GB quota for photos. Purchase more storage
Photos are stored in your Picasa Web Albums account and are included in your 1 GB free quota for photos. Additional storage you purchase is shared between Gmail, Picasa Web Albums, and Google Docs, and is in addition to your free quota. Learn more"
It doesn't look like much to purchase more GB, just wondering if anyone else has gotten this message. My husband thinks it is a scam! However, I can't post pictures until I purchase more! Help! Any thoughts?
Thanks! I have been working on some fun things for Christmas and can't wait to post! I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season!
Christie
Yes, I've gotten this message before. I was totally confused, as I upload my pictures from my own software program, not from online. I did have a Picasa program on my desktop and occasionally used it -- my pictures were automatically transferring to the on-line Picasa program too. I didn't think it was a problem until I got that message. At that point I deleted the pictures from the on-line program, and then deleted Picasa from my desktop (because I knew I had all the pictures in my own software).
ReplyDeleteIf you are using Picasa as your primary source for loading your pictures, then perhaps you could transfer some of your pictures to another free online software program like Photobucket. You could then either load your pictures directly from Photobucket or transfer to Photobucket and delete those pictures from Picasa thereby free up space.
Unfortunately, either way you will have to delete some of your pictures from your on-line Picasa account in order to upload pics to your blog.
I do not understand it at all, but in removing my Picasa account, I was able to continue to upload through my Microsoft photo software program.
I hope this makes sense to you because when I read it back to myself, I get confused all over again. Somehow Picasa gets all involved in the photo uploads. I found it easier just to eliminate Picasa all together!
Best of luck and am eagerly waiting to hear more about the shop, as I am ALWAYS contemplating doing the same. I've just haven't taken that step. Your insight will be very valuable to me.
I just read where Julia at ofpetalsandwool.blogspot.com got the same message.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to make of it.
Glad you are ok! I enjoy your blog and have missed it the past two weeks! Looking forward to your Christmas inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWow! that is terrible. I wish I could help you out but I have no idea, have not had that happen to me. I use Picasa Albums as well and have close to 4,000 pics on my CP. Sorry!! I hope you will find some way to remedy the problem soon! ~Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if deleting pics from very very old post might free up space??
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for posting this. I couldn't upload pics one day and went outside blogger to Picasa and uploaded from there. I didn't know that those pics were also included in the 1 GB storage limit.
Thanks for Sharing and let us know your solution. It may be helpful to others.~Ames
Christie, several people have gotten this message and it is real. It is 5 dollars to purchase more storage. One of the other blogs I read went through this yesterday and I have heard some others mention it. I am sure my time will be soon. It is real though.
ReplyDeletei was worried about this time coming for me, i deleted my blogs becasue i didn't want to pay when i ran out of space... sadly, i never looked at the cost, for 5 bucks its worth it to keep playing with 20x's the space as before!
ReplyDeletewhat i have been wondering is why we got so much free to begin with :)
You guys are the BEST! Thanks so much! I will try to delete the Picasa account first (thanks Jan!) and if I can't figure that out, I will pay the five bucks! I don't use the Picasa site, so shouldn't affect my posts...hopefully! As Jan said, I think blogger must have an account with Picasa, so pictures are automatically put into Picasa...why pay for something if you are not using it! I'll post back here what happens, just in case you get the message, too! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteChristie, like Kim said it is real. Lori over at http://myheartwithpleasurefills.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletehas encountered this problem, she blogged about it. You might want to contact her. I know my day is coming, ya'll are wading through the waters before me & I am reading and waiting. I pray you can enjoy the moments through the holidays, sounds as if you are OVER-LOADED! The only reason I can say this, I've been there girl! Had a candy/gift shop (can you imagine that one @ Christmas)? Along with the family too! Thinking of you!
Rut Ro!...Ummm,well, I'm kinda thinking like your husband, but of course I always think everything is a scam, but in the mean time, just load from your camera to your PC and browse/select from your pictures on your PC. I did use the photoshop,picasa,etc..but always have less problems download to my PC and browse/select from my pictures on my PC.

Well....after these suggestions and searching through blogger for answers it seems...there are no answers that are EASY other than to pay 5 bucks! I am not computer savvy, so all of the suggestions cloud my head! Here is the deal...blogger seems to have to store our photos somewhere...or at least that is what it seems. They are only going to store 1 GB for free at Picasa...I didn't even know I had a Picasa account, as I just upload from my PC, but it doesn't matter...everything is stored in Picasa. You can delete folders to free up space, but you will loose pictures in your posts. Several folks switched to WordPress because of this and some just started new blogs...it is real, but does seem like a great way for blogger/Picassa to make money...I guess I am not surprised that with all the blogs out there, someone was bound to make some big bucks! Here goes my five dollars!! Oh, and the SIZE of your photos causes the 1GB to evaporate quickly...think that is my problem...I enlarge mine to s720!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow~ I always wondered about the "you are using dahdahdah% of your space" message while uploading... but didn't know any more about it.. Sounds crazy! Oh well, looks like there area a few fixes out there. Glad to see a post from you and that everything is well with you and yours. I have missed all your gorgeous inspiring posts!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI too have heard of this happening recently to other bloggers. I also learned that you can post from photobucket. Well I have a photobucket account, so I started posting some of my pictures from there. I don't know how long I have until I get THE notice, but at least some of my pics are not taking up the Picasa space :-)

I'm so glad that I tracked down your blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm the Julia of the blog Of Petals and Wool that Katie spoke about and I'm so glad that I'm not the only one with this problem. I've been blogging every day and posted a lot of pictures since August 2nd, 2010.
This happened last evening and it says that it can take up to 24 hours to get the space to upload the photos. I've been checking occasionally and I'm still without space. This is the first time I purchase something online with my Visa and I would have liked to have confirmation that Picasa received my purchase but I haven't even received a n email for confirmation. I don't mind paying $5.00 because it is worth it to me but I would have like a warning before this happened so I could have done something about it. I feel like an addict without her fix, lol JB
Hey my long lost sweet friend! :-) I've been wondering about you but knew you were probably up to your eyeballs in craziness! I can't help you out on the whole picture thing because my images are all stored on my computer and then I upload them to blogger as I need them. I'm so sorry it has been so frustrating! I may just need to send you an email so we can REALLY talk :-) because I would love to hear more about how the shop is going and how life is in general. I shared with someone the other day about that wonderful devotion you emailed me awhile back and wanted to thank you again for being that kind of friend to me! That book is on my Christmas list and I hope "Santa" comes through for me!
ReplyDeleteHang in there and I look forward to seeing all of your gorgeous Christmas creations!
Love, Vanessa
I keep hearing of this happening. Considering my obsession for uploading pictures, I guess it's just a matter of time.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if there's a way to KNOW if you're getting close to the limit??
I just don't want a surprise.
Yes! You can go to 'picassa web' to see where you are with the limit of 1GB. I believe there is a button at the bottom of the screen that shows you how much space is left. I typed in 'picassa web' into my google search and it automatically pulled up my file with folders that I didn't even know I had! Apparently, blogger has to store the pictures somewhere, and picassa is the site they have chosen. Photobucket is another one that you could switch to, but I opted to just pay the $5 and increase the storage to 20GB, since I like to enlarge my pix. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christie! Going to check right now.
ReplyDeleteHello my dear and MIA Christie! I have missed your smiling and cheerful posts and visits.
ReplyDeleteYOur new header is GORGEOUS! And those children and doggie are adorable as adorable can be!!!!!!! My heart was so warmed!!!
As far as uploading, yes I had to pay my $5.00 awhile back too. I use a lot of space because I don't minumize my images. I love the quality of a big picture. Oh well!
I have had problems lately when I go to upload my images for my blog from, I get "an error has occurred and your pictures cannot be uploaded at this time, try again later". So frustrating!!!!
I hope blogger figures this all out. I am spending far too much time working around their problems.
I did buy my own web site domain. I am thinkng about switching to a .com. Because if you use blogger , they technically own your work. I don't like that at all.
Enough of the dark side of blogging... back to the bright... your blog ( and you) are just amazing! I am delighted every time I visit.
xo Yvonne
Adorable family.....
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too.... It'll all come together.. :-)
Warm blessings,
Spencer
