Goodbye Spring flowers.
Goodbye four years old.
Goodbye late afternoon giggles.
Goodbye...
swinging by the old oak tree...
and blowing lots of bubbles.
Farewell backyard 'tackle'...
...and 'pick-up' baseball after church.
Goodbye six years old.
So long unhurried mornings.
Farewell fireflies at dusk...
and lazy afternoons.
Goodbye fishermen at the end of the pier.
Goodbye silliness.
So long warm sunshine...
...and sand between the toes.
Goodbye critters beneath our feet...
Farewell feeding the seagulls...
and the ducks and geese. So long summer picnics...
and so long 8 years old.
Farewell fishing on hot summer days.
Goodbye little garden...
and tractor rides at the farm.
Goodbye ice cream parties...
and Fourth of July fun.
Farewell water skiing...
canoeing...
and kayaking at dusk.
So long another summer...
of running barefoot on the beach...
and climbing big oak trees.
Farewell salty air...
and summer fun.
Goodbye summer friends...
Goodbye Green Eyed Sally and baby colt 'Buddy.'
Farewell little one, until we meet again.
So long reptile hunts...
So long the river wild...
Farewell Summer's Pride...
and Farmer's Market fun...
Farewell long summer nights and sunsets over the lake...
So long Summer...
until next year's break!Oh, the sadness to say 'goodbye' to summer! School starts in about a week! I look at my children's faces and know that next summer will bring all new adventures, new friends and another step away from childhood. How I long to freeze time! As I glance back over this summer, I am thankful for lazy days, visits with family, baby dolls and lizards, picnics in the park, time at the beach and swimming in the lake. I love the great outdoors!
Thanks to all of you who support me in this fun adventure at Three Pixie Lane! You have all been so gracious with your kind words and encouragement!
What are some of your favorite memories of this summer?

ReplyDeleteSchool starts here in about a week too for the little ones. Some excitement and nervousness shown from the both of the grand kids about this. They are eager to see their friends, who they haven't seen as much during the Summer.
We're planning a short camping trip for them sometime this coming week before they head back to school. Looking forward to that! :)
Blessings to you,
