We have this little mudroom off of our laundry room. It is also where our dog can come in from the cold.
The Dutch door leads to the mudroom. Wow, I can't remember the last time this room was this neat!

Our yellow lab is an outdoor dog, so he sure can bring in a mess! He loves to swim in the river. No one likes the smell of a wet dog, so we have to keep this room clean. When I walk in the laundry room, I want to smell the fresh scent of detergent, not Toby! My daughter helps by giving him a bath once a week.
Also, we will have a full house on Christmas Eve. My son's room will become a guest room and it is also off of the laundry room (we remodeled the empty basement years ago, to accommodate our growing family.) I added some bright color and greenery to the space, since it will be visible to our guest.
Yes, Toby gets a few presents for Christmas, too! He is such a good dog!
The dog food pail came from Tuesday Morning. The old enamelware pot was once my Grandmother's. Now, it holds fresh water. The red polka dot bowl came from Ross.
I made the moss covered 'T' a couple of years ago. It was on our porch upstairs. This container is the same one as the one in the picture of the laundry room above. I had grown tired of the blue lids, so painted them cherry red. The containers came from Hobby Lobby with metal lids. The red is working for me now!
The little bins above his bed are kept neat with baskets and bins. The four small baskets at the bottom came from IKEA. The red and white rug came from IKEA, too.
Not too feminine or frilly for this space...
I feel like we wash his bed all the time. I wish I had thought to snap a photo of him on his bed! He is so cute!
I pulled one of my fishing baskets from the shed to hold the fresh greenery.
Thank you for stopping by!
I will be back with more pictures, soon, as I prepare for a home tour!

ReplyDeleteI love your fishing baskets with the greens! So cute! I have to say Toby has a very nice area to be in the mud room....So cutely decorated.....I know I cannot stand the smell of a wet dog either and we are constantly bathing my Lola (German Shepherd).
I just love reading your blog.
Thanks for stopping by mine also.
Christie, what a nice area for Toby. Love the basket of greens and where did the plaid dog food pail come from. Love it.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! It feels so fresh and happy!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so festive! Love the dog bowls! :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful decoratings...enjoy enjoy ....love from me...xxx...
ReplyDeleteI'm swooning! That is about one of the cutest mudrooms I've ever seen! Love all that red and white. Your rustic wreath is perfect there to add an unexpected touch of Christmas. You're lucky to have a spot like that in your home. My next house is going to have a mudroom for sure!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful and sounds like a functional mudroom..I wish Toby could of been in the photos..We had a chocolate lab and he was the best friend to my husband and I..Looking forward to more Christmas photos..
ReplyDeleteChristie,
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I could never decorate it at all like that if my dog slept there - even at 12, he'd eat it all.....
xoxo to Toby...
Love it. Love the red and white color scheme - so fresh and seasonal. Wish I had a mud room instead of just a screened-in porch! Thanks for sharing, liz
ReplyDeleteLove the colour scheme and the addition of your Christmas decor. Looks like you have everything there in one spot for your dog and I'm really wishing we could do that. Unfortunately we don't have a mud room or back door area (small front entry and patio doors in the kitchen) so we have to break up the dog stuff. 'Walk' stuff goes in the front entry and food/drying towels etc go in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI adore all decorations... so Christmassy!
By the way, I am having a Little Rue giveaway on my blog. I hope you will join.

What a pleasant room to do laundry in! Love the little basket with it's Christmas finery!
ReplyDeleteCute laundry room. Love the dogs dishes and the fishing creel with the greenery.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really lovely space Christine! Mud rooms can be the hardest to make look 'pretty' and you have done it beautifully! Wishing you a wonderful week and Merry Christmas! Angie xo
ReplyDeleteI just love your doggie bowls. Did you see how Debbie used one to put a poinsettia in? I so copied your little truck idea this year. I see yours found a different home this year. I bought the Cracker Barrel candy canes to go in one of them, but used the Dollar Tree glass candy canes instead in my red truck and little bottle bush trees in the green one (after seeing the trees displayed a truck in the Christmas Cottage magazine this year!) Thanks for the inspiration! Looks like Toby is living the good life! ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love the little fishing basket...I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a big one to hang on the front door:). I saw those glass containers at hobby lobby today! I wondered if that was the kind you had...
ReplyDeleteIt is all as cute as can be!
Christmas blessings,
Christie
Nice laundry room....I have the same red checked ribbon on two wreaths in our bedroom...your dog is lucky to have a family like yours...Mel's Designs

ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous! I wish our laundry was big enough for our dog. What a wonderful spot he has. I love the area above his bed too and how organized it is!
