The Last of Fall

I love the colors of fall, and it doesn't seem that we get to enjoy them for very long.  As soon as Halloween is over, Christmas is everywhere!  I am not complaining, because I love Christmas, too.
Before I do the big makeover for the holidays, here is the last of fall...
Fall is so simple and the rust, green and brown colors are my favorite.  Can you tell?  Most of my house is decorated in earth tones!
Simple tabletop displays add a little more color to our living room.
The marble compote belonged to my sweet, sweet granny.  I used the white pumpkins left over from Halloween with the Bittersweet and some walnut colored moss to fill it.
As soon as it is cool enough to make a fire, we bring the fire logs in!  Nothing else screams 'cozy' quite like a warm fire!
I found these plates a few years ago and love the colors...perfect for this space with the browns and greens.
My parents purchased the birds on the mantel in England, while my dad was stationed there.  They were a gift to my grandparents.  Again, I love the earthy colors.

Nothing seems to scream 'fall' like some square dancin' in a barn!
Some friends invited us to a banquet at the Dairy Barn in Fort Mill, SC.  It is a beautiful, old building and the perfect place for square dancing.  We watched on the sidelines, but the children were dying to give it a try!  How fun!
I hope you are able to enjoy the last of fall and Thanksgiving, before all the Christmas festivities begin!

  5. Oh Christie, would you think I was seriously weird if I told you I have been stalking your living room? LOL! I was looking for some Christmas inspiration and came over to see your decorations from last year and got completely hung up on how lovely this room is...went through every single Dec. post! :-) And now getting to see how you have it dressed for Fall makes me love it even more. It just exudes cozy and warm!

  6. Gosh, me and my sister truly think alike. I was just thinking about how much I LOVED your coffee table and armoire and then when I clicked on "comments" I saw my sister thought the same thing. Ha! Well it's true! I adore them! Your living room is gorgeous. I love all the earth tones in there. I agree with you that not enough people allow time to just soak in the Fall season (outside of Halloween). I like to soak it in without the ghosts and jack-o-lanterns on every doorstep. I wish people wouldn't decorate for Christmas BEFORE Thanksgiving. Poor Thanksgiving gets lost in the shuffle.

  9. Christie, I'm with you. I love the warmth of the colors of fall. Your mantel and tabletop vignettes are lovely. I like the way you used the bittersweet with the mini pumpkins. I did the same this fall on a set of scales. Happy Thanksgiving and savor those these last days of the season. ~ Sarah

  10. Hello Christie! This is so beautiful! Love the painting over the fireplace! You're right - there's nothing more cozy! Right now our fireplace needs repair - our house is old and we're concerned about the integrity of the chimney! So glad you visited that I might return the call - lovely to meet another Southern blogger!
    God Bless,
    Kathy
