A Still Life and a Hoot

The colors of the Hydrangeas are so beautiful this time of year.  Last year, my husband cut them to the ground before I could stop him!
I picked this pretty berry lookin' thing from near the school house.  I think it is a weed, but it has the most beautiful color.  Last year, I used it in an arrangement once it turned a deep red.
After walking the kids to school, my youngest daughter and  I went on a nature hunt to gather some treasures for different arrangements.
This flower arrangement needed a little something fun, so I added the owl.  I picked up several little owls from Michael's for different fall projects.
The silver needs polishing, but I would never use it if I had to polish!  I used this big white bowl (from Homegoods) because of the size, and because it is still summer.
Initally, I put the arrangement in my dining room, but moved it...
to the dresser in my foyer.
Then, I remembered that I had some muscadines and other grapes from my dad's farm, so I put those in the arrangement.  The colors are great to make it feel like fall...at least inside!
This shot looks like a 'still life.'  I wish I could paint!
The wooden box was my grandmother's.
He is still there...peaking around the side..the little hoot.
The marble top dresser in our foyer was my grandparent's.

  24. Beautiful arrangement and photos. It's been a great summer for hydrangeas. They also so wonderful since they change color, sometimes I almost forget that part, and they dry so easily. The marble top dresser is lovely, too.
